Lorri Rowlandson is Senior Vice President of Strategy and Innovation for BGIS, a leading provider of real estate management and facilities management services, where she leverages her experience and expertise to deliver “practical innovation” in the workplace. Mike Petrusky asks Lorri about disruptive technologies and the ways industry professionals can embrace change while incorporating new tools into their businesses. Lorri shares her vision for the future workplace and the role that predictive analytics and business intelligence will play as facility managers use data in new ways. She says that organizations will need to collaborate across departments when managing cost, risk and quality, while also enabling enhanced workplace experiences and seeking to improve productivity. Mike and Lorri share stories from IFMA’s World Workplace and the CoreNet Global Summit as they discuss the “blurring of lines” in companies today. They focus on the importance of emotional intelligence in high performing cultures and agree that we must balance the implementation of technology with an understanding of the human side in the workplace. Lorri also talks about her appreciation of Seth Godin books and Mike offers his best impersonation of Canadian rock band “Rush” (Spoiler Alert: it’s not very good)!
